Specialist Provider Medical Services (SPMS)

What it is - ‘Sustaining Innovation Through New PMS Arrangements’, which the DoH published in December 2003, sets out the government’s intentions for SPMS. Until this guidance was published, PMS schemes had been required to be responsible for the delivery of a full range of ‘GMS equivalent’ services with at least one GP involved. Neither of these stipulations applies to SPMS.
