Managers

The NAPC ardently supports practice managers, who, it recognises, as key to the successful introduction of practice based commissioning and the modernisation of patient care.

With the introduction last year of nGMS and PMS contracts, the NAPC established a dedicated support service to assist managers and their colleagues through the Quality and Outcomes Framework assessment process.  The results across the country were impressive. We continue to run a helpline (both email and telephone) to assist managers with thorny issues of the moment; with examples of good practice, etc.

Regular meetings are held with the Minister for Health, Lord Warner, which a group of practice managers attend to discuss their local perspectives of practice based commissioning.  Such meetings are important in NAPC’s role in informing policy makers of the challenges and opportunities that policies present to those at grass roots. The ability to offer these meetings provides both ministers and attendees with valuable opportunities to shape practical policies which improve patient care.
