National Commissioning Conference

Start: 16/07/2007 9:00 AM
End: 17/07/2007 5:15 PM
Cost: To Be Announced
Location: ICC Birmingham

Description

In partnership with the Birmingham City Council
ICC Birmingham, 16-17 July 2007

In Partnership with Birmingham City Council and ADASS West Midlands, CareandHealth are launching its inaugural National Commissioning Conference on July 16th & 17th at the Birmingham ICC Commissioning is the key subject of the moment and the big question is how to deliver outcomes for people from the market when money is tight. In addition to this, issues such as who will need services in the future and in what form are starting to face commissioners as they engage in their strategic planning role.

In trying to answer this the sector has become awash with commissioning conferences, toolkits and policy information to try and help you make sense of this. Most of this information falls into one of three camps - policy advice about centring services round the individual, detailed workflow solutions about how to commission specific services, or examples of good joined up commissioning.

The National Commissioning conference will be strikingly different. It will explain in detail about how to think like an effective commissioner. Good commissioning is about using both the immediate market and possible markets to get results. It flows from thinking about the use of providers, partners and service users in highly flexible ways. Yet, these ways are learnable and have simple clear rules that are possible to follow.
Over two days high level speakers from the world of Politics, Central and Local Government, NHS, Primary Care Trusts and other sector leading bodies will provide detailed platform papers and offer models of both thought and action, based around market activity

On day one join Jon Sopel of BBC1’s Politcal Show as we discuss delivering outcomes through superior commissioning with a political Showcase featuring The Rt Honourable Patricia Hewitt, Secretary State for Health and Andrew Lansley CBE MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Health for the Conservatives.

Day two of this event will offer you over seven specialise workshops on commissioning for you to choose from. Our leading industry expert speakers will provide you with the tools to:

*  Measure demand and deal with it cost effectively
*  Assess your supply markets
*  Show you how to commission for improved outcomes for all
