News From HQ

This week saw meetings with pharmaceutical organisations and an IT based company, which are all members of NAPC; a meeting also took place at the Department of Health, with representatives from other primary care organisations to discuss an array of subjects, including next steps around GP Commissioning.

There was also a meeting between Dr Honeyman of the King's Fund and Maggie Marum from NAPC to discuss clinical leadership and opportunities for joint working.

NAPC exhibited at a Wellards event, which took place at the King's Fund.

NAPC's annual conference on 20/21 October at the Hilton Metropole, Birmingham is bursting at the seams so book immediately to avoid disappointment.

Fresh Hope Of A Medicine For Breast Cancer

New research has identified how the contraceptive pill and HRT could be linked to breast cancer, increasing hopes for a preventative medicine for the illness. Synthetic hormones called progestins, which are used in HRT and contraceptives, had been linked to the developments of the disease and now researchers in Vienna, in collaboration with academics at UCL, claim to have shown that a protein may play a key role in hormone driven breast cancers.
