NICE Sanctions Drugs For Early Treatment Of Alzheimer's
The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) has reversed its decision not to prescribe certain treatments to hundreds of thousands of people with early signs of Alzheimer's disease. Three drugs, Aricept, Reminyl and Exelon can now be routinely prescribed on the NHS to people with mild as well as moderate symptoms.

Private Sector Set To Take Over Up To 30 Failing Hospitals
Mark Britnell, the former Director General of Commissioning at the Department of Health, has said that as many as 30 hospitals could end up being run by the private sector because their finances were in such a poor state. Dr Britnell, head of European healthcare at KPMG, the accountants, said that there was a high likelihood that pernicious and persistent debts would require some hospitals to follow Hinchingbrooke Hospital's example over the next 18 months.
