This week saw a very successful meeting of NAPC London, attended by Drs David Colin-Thome and James Kingsland, at which sectorisation of London was discussed. An approach is to be made to NHS London to explore the possibility of working collaboratively to deliver the agenda.

Press Release

Andrew Lansley, Secretary of State for Health, will face a packed auditorium this year, when he addresses delegates at NAPC's 2010 forthcoming annual conference, on the second day of its event. The conference has now no further capacity. The interest in the conference, this year, has rocketed in the light of the government's White Paper and NAPC's support for the policy the Coalition has outlined.

Executive Summary

NAPC welcomes the direction of travel set out within the White Paper.

Primary care will have a pivotal role to play in delivering this agenda through:

• Improving access to primary care services
• Improving the quality of primary care services by reducing unwarranted variation in clinical practice and more closely integrating primary care services with other providers, allowing
the safe transfer of services from an acute setting into the
community
• Adopting a more pro-active and preventative approach to the management of patients with LTCs
• Providing clinical leadership in the commissioning of local clinical services

Agony Aunt And NHS Campaigner, Claire Rayner, Dies

Tributes have been paid to agony aunt, Claire Rayner, who died yesterday, aged 79.

The award winning journalist had remained ill after intestinal surgery in May. She died in hospital near her home in Harrow in London.
